Space-based solar power


In 1976 a fascinating Idea was attempted first, solar panel arrangements have been used to the power space station and satellites for a long time, but more difficulties must be faced, it is possible to improve further but the concept of getting solar power from outer space is limited at the starting point. In earth solar power generation with solar panels during the day time in places like without enough sunlight, many places in the Arctic region will not get enough sunlight all year round.

As we know a huge portion of solar energy reaching the planet is lost due to reflection and atmosphere resistance by the dust particles at the atmosphere, generated solar energy will be converted into electricity and stored in batteries at present as a backup for harsh weather and nighttime situations.

If space-based solar power is successful, it can be most sufficient for meeting power requirements for the entire world and also it is more sustainable and inexhaustible.

Compare with the terrestrial solar form, this system can receive permanent sunlight and also receive sunlight without any disturbance and provide a large amount of output capacity.

Another important system introduced here is the transmission of power anywhere instantaneously across the world, such as in remote areas of the military and it will decrease the usage of batteries.

But the huge challenge we are facing today is the cost assurance of return and solar-powered satellites need a huge amount of solar panel arrangement in it, which will also increase the cost of it.

Materials used for its manufacturing have a very short life span in space due to space string conditions and more material requires quick replacement needs, and one and the only solution is to make materials such lightweight without any decreasing efficiency.

Indian space research organization (ISRO) has combined with US National space society and with China for the development of solar collectors and solar satellites.

        More designs of capture and transmission for solar energy will be prosed, most of them are focused on the utilization of optical reflectors for concentration and extra lightweight but also an efficient photovoltaic arrangement that can be easily maintained.

Construction in outer space must be with lunar materials for more efficient options, construction of space-based solar power must be with two parts.

1.   Arrangement of solar panel orbit above the earth
2.   Power received day’s station at the ground and project team of energy Bank to the earth.
So, effective transmission of power must be possible with at efficient wireless system, possibilities of the wave using will be consistent with a lower weight, cost as well as high efficiency, considering this laser beaming and microwave energy transmission is mostly preferred.
 Geosynchronous orbit choosing will provide so many merits including, extensibility and almost constant energy transformation, but the radiation exposure is also a part of it. As we consider receiving and at the earth and rectenna is preferred, a rectifying antenna is mostly used in wireless systems that transmission power using radio waves.
  Still there is a long way to go but time and resources are mutually combined together, space-based solar power can offer a dreamlike advantage for human civilization.
